Woodshed privacy policy
Last updated: October 21, 2026
This policy describes the Woodshed music practice app and its associated Woodshed website, provided by Program Partner, LLC. Questions can be sent to support@myprogrampartner.com.
Ordinary practice stays on your device
You do not need an account for ordinary Woodshed practice. Exercise settings, preferences, names you enter, practice history, progress, and locally generated reports are stored on your device. The app does not automatically upload ordinary practice history or sync it with other devices. Removing the app may remove its local data. Device backups are governed by your device and Apple settings.
The packaged app does not include advertising or third-party analytics scripts. It does not use advertising identifiers or track you across other companies’ apps and websites.
Anonymous usage counts
To learn which features are used, so we know what to improve, Woodshed sends anonymous counts to its own website, woodshed.myprogrampartner.com. A count says which part of Woodshed was used (for example, that a fingerings round was finished, a page was opened, the tuner was started, or a director made an exercise link) with a few fixed labels and small numbers: whether the round was practice or an assessment, where it was opened from, the band, orchestra or choir filter, the instrument for fingering activities, how many seconds a round took, whether it was the website, the installed web app, iOS or Android, and whether it was this device’s first use today or ever.
Counts never include names, scores, answers, results, reports, exercise titles, links, assessment tokens, or anything you type. Woodshed sets no cookie and stores no device ID for counting; to avoid counting a device twice in one day, the device remembers only the last date it was counted and whether it has been counted before. Like any request to the website, Cloudflare, which hosts Woodshed, handles the request’s IP address at its network edge to deliver it and to limit how often counts can be sent; the IP address is never written into a count. Counts are kept for about three months. After that, Program Partner keeps only each day’s totals, which hold nothing the counts don’t: the same fixed labels and numbers, added up by day. Program Partner reads the counts and the daily totals only to decide what to build.
You can turn counting off with Share anonymous usage counts on Woodshed’s About page. When it is off, or when your browser sends Global Privacy Control, Woodshed sends no counts at all.
Microphone access
The tuner requests microphone access when you start it. It analyzes sound on your device to estimate pitch. Woodshed does not record or transmit microphone audio. Stop the tuner or revoke microphone permission in device Settings to stop access.
Reports and exercise links
When you choose to copy, save, or share a report, you control its destination. Reports may include a name you entered and practice results. Other apps and recipients handle shared files under their own policies. Exercise links encode exercise settings; student names are not included in those links. Avoid adding private information to exercise titles or other shared settings.
Optional school skill-pathway assessments
A Program Partner school assessment link opens the canonical Woodshed website in the system browser. This connected assessment is different from ordinary offline practice. When you complete it, the website sends the assessment answers and associated assessment token to the school’s Program Partner account so the school can grade the assessment and update skill progress. The school-provided token associates the submission with its assigned assessment. These features require internet access.
For access, correction, or deletion of school assessment records, contact your school or director. You may also contact our support address for assistance locating the appropriate contact. School record handling is governed by the school’s Program Partner arrangements and the applicable Program Partner privacy notices.
Website requests, purchases, and support
Opening the website or a connected assessment requires network requests. Hosting and connected services process information such as an IP address and request details to deliver the service and protect it. This includes the anonymous usage counts described above and the limit on how often they can be sent. This policy does not claim that web requests leave no technical records.
Apple handles App Store payments and account information under its own policies. Woodshed does not receive your payment-card details. Apple may also process diagnostics or feedback according to your Apple and device settings.
If you email support, we receive your email address, message, and any information you choose to include. We use that information to respond and resolve the request, and retain support correspondence as needed for those purposes and applicable obligations. Please do not email student records or sensitive information unless needed and requested.
Students and children
Woodshed can be used for music practice by students without creating an app account. Parents, guardians, and educators should supervise sharing and connected school assessment use as appropriate. Questions about school-managed records should go to the school. Contact support with any concern about a child’s information.
Your choices
You can practice offline, turn off anonymous usage counts on the About page, avoid connected school assessments, control sharing, change microphone permission, and clear ordinary practice history using the available controls. For connected school assessments in your browser, Woodshed attempts to save up to ten unfinished or undelivered attempts, including their answers and assessment token, in browser storage. Clearing practice history does not remove those stored attempts or cancel their pending delivery. Browser storage may be unavailable, cleared, or evicted; retaining or recovering answers is not guaranteed. If saving fails, keep the page open because closing or reloading may lose unsent answers. You can remove those browser records by clearing Woodshed’s site data in your browser settings; doing so loses unsent answers. Removing the app may delete local data; keep any reports you want before doing so. A local deletion does not delete reports you already shared or school records stored in Program Partner.
